# Beat together the soft margarine, caster sugar, beaten eggs, self-raising flour and baking powder till smooth
# Add the chocolate, nuts and soft brown sugar
# Spread into a greased lined 8 inch (20 cm) square tin
# Bake in a pre-heated 350F, Gas Mark 4, 180C oven for 35-40 minutes
# Make icing: melt the hard margarine with chocolate powder in a pan
# Boil for half a minute then stir in icing sugar and milk
# Beat until it thickens
# Cool the cake in the tin for a few minutes before turning out on a wire rack
# Spread the top with icing, cool, then cut into squares

  • # 2 oz. (50g) soft brown sugar
  • # 2 oz. (50g) walnuts
  • roughly chopped
  • # three and a half ounces (90g) hard margarine
  • # 4 tablespoons drinking chocolate powder
  • # 9 oz. (250g) icing sugar
  • sifted
  • # 2 tablespoons of milk
