To prepare this Spoon Bread Recipe, first boil cornmeal with salt in a little water for 5 minutes, and then add the milk. Allow to cool off. Beat until smooth. Add the sugar, shortening, well beaten egg and baking powder, beating all the time. Pour into greased pan and bake about 20 minutes in a moderate oven.
