American coffee cake


Ingredients

4 1/2 cup Flour
4 tsp Baking powder
1 tsp Salt
4 tbsp Sugar
2 tbsp Butter, or lard - rounded
2 each Eggs
1 1/3 cup Milk
Topping:
1 tsp Cinnamon
1 tbsp Butter
1/2 cup Flour
1/2 cup Sugar


Directions
  1. Sift flour, add baking powder, salt, sugar.
  2. Sift three times.
  3. Chop butter in with spoon.
  4. Beat up whites until stiff.
  5. Add egg yolks, beat.
  6. Add milk.
  7. Beat all together, turn into 2 square pans and spread with the topping mixture.
