Hungarian meatballs lisa


Ingredients

MEATBALLS
2 lbs Ground beef
1 large Egg
1/4 cup Milk
1 cup Dry bread crumbs
1 tsp Garlic powder
1 tsp Paprika
HUNGARIAN SAUCE
1 1/2 cup Water
1 cup Blush wine
1/2 cup Beef broth
1/2 tbsp Red wine vinegar
2 tsp Caraway seed
1/2 cup Milk
1 1/2 tsp Salt
1 tsp Minced onion
1/4 tsp Black pepper
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
4 tsp Paprika
1/4 tsp Ground marjoram
1/2 cup Water
4 tbsp Flour


Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Combine all of the meatball ingredients, except the ground beef in a large bowl.
  3. Mix well.
  4. Add the ground beef, and knead until uniform.
  5. Shape mixture into 1 ½" balls.
  6. Place meatballs in a lightly greased 13x9x2 baking pan, and cook until light brown, about 20 minutes.
  7. Drain excess fat.
  8. Meanwhile, combine the sauce ingredients, except for the last two, in a large saucepan.
  9. Add meatballs and bring to a boil.
  10. Reduce heat, and cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  11. Mix the flour and the remaining water, and stir into the meatball and sauce mixture.
  12. Heat to boiling, stirring carefully.
  13. Boil and stir for one minute.
