Caprese Salad (tomato, Basil, Mozzarella) Recipe
Takes about 10 Minutes
Guys, this is a panty melter. You wanna impress a girl, whip this up, and she'll ask you to whip it out. Seriously though, this is the National Salad of Italy, incorporating it's national colors (Red, White, Green) and it's most identifiable flavors into a DELICIOUS snack or appetizer.
Cook Time: 10 minutes
This is an emblematic dish of Italy, so I AM NOT KIDDING when I say it all needs to be FRESH. That's the whole thrust behind the flavor.
Cut a roma tomato into thick slices, about 1/8 to 1/4" thick.
Cut the mozzarella ball into similarly sized slices.
Place a large basil leaf over each piece of mozzarella.
Put a slice of tomato on each mozzarella / basil leaf.
Drizzle just enough olive oil over the tomato that it spills down onto the basil leaf a bit.
Crack the pepper over each.
Sprinkle each with salt.
Cut in halves.
Watch the panties come off.
- Fresh mozzarella (seriously
- Fresh basil (straight off a LIVING PLANT
- no excuses)
- Fresh roma tomatoes
- Olive oil
- Fresh cracked black pepper (if you don't have a pepper cracker
- splurge on the $3 ones McCormick's sells)
- Sea Salt (not kidding
- don't use iodized table salt!)
